Since I had portable shell programs like Strawberry Perl and both 2.7 and 3.5 versions of WinPython in my Downloads folder (>50,000 files), Teams was freezing while processing all of those. I fully uninstalled it using Revo and then reinstalled it, but the behavior remained the same.Īfter doing some forensics with Process Monitor, I noticed that MS Teams reads through every single file in my user Downloads folder before downloading the file.
For the longest time, my MS Teams would freeze for 30-40 seconds whenever I would 'download' a file sent over chat, but not when I would 'open in Teams' or 'view via the web'. I ran into this weird behavior or bug in Microsoft Teams (Windows 10), and I'm not sure how to get in touch with the correct people at Microsoft about it.
